Jason Cormier (5-10, 190, 4.5) of Logo Vista, Texas is a Super Combine Freak, as he put-up some pretty good Super Combine numbers this past summer, including an amazing 38 inch vertical; a 4.21 in the pro-shuttle; a 120 inch standing broad jump; and 26 reps of 185 pounds on the bench press.
Cormier is also a very inspiring young athlete who transferred to Lago Vista from Round Rock McNeil just before his junior season. He had to sit behind a senior running back for most all of his junior season, but in the last game of the season, the starting running back got hurt early in the game and Cormier was given a chance to play.
Cormier took full advantage of the situation and rushed for 168 yards on only 16 carries and scored on a 46 yard touchdown run. That was a great 10.5 yards per carry average in the last game of his junior career.
Cormier is one of the hardest workers that I have come across in a long time. He has been working with a personal trainer since the seventh grade season and recently with All-American Bowl Game Classic Coach Stephen Braggs for most of this past summer. He also would like to become a college coach after his football playing days are over. For all of these reasons and because I really like this kid, I have sent him an invitation to play in the 2010 All-American Bowl Game Classic and he has accepted.
Cormier was already selected as the Lago Vista Team Captain for his senior season, after only being on the team for one season. Although he has been "Flying Under the Recruiting Radar" for all of this recruiting season, he shocked the Austin Area high school football world in his first 2009 game of the season when he rushed for 228 yards and scored three touchdowns from his fullback position as he averaged an impressive 13.4 yards per carry. Cormier only played a little over two quarters as their team won 43-7. CLICK FOR STATS
Cormier rushed for 117 yards on 33 carries in a crushing 21-14 Bi-District loss to Hempstead in Overtime. The greatest season in the short history of the Lago Vista football program came down to inches — six of them, to be exact. The Vikings came up just short Friday night on a fourth-and-one in overtime. The heart-breaking loss brought an end to a season that featured Lago Vista's first District 25-2A championship. Cormier finished his senior season with 1,671 rushing yards on 208 carries for a 8.03 yards per carry average and 19 touchdowns. The 25-AA All District Team was announced and Cormier won District Offensive MVP and DE Austin Terry was named District Defensive MVP.
