Erik Buchanan (6-3, 196, 4.47, 40 VJ, 4.01, 123 SBJ, 15 REPS) of Aberdeen, Mississippi is a Super Combine Freak and he is also a Super Football player that has been "Flying under the Recruiting Radar" with college coaches for his entire junior and senior seasons.
I went to see Buchanan participate in the Jackson, Mississippi Super Showcase Jamberee in May and I was really impressed with what I saw.
Let's see! In the first quarter of the Super Showcase Jamboree, in Jackson, he caught a pass over the middle and dragged two defenders into the endzone. This immediately got my attention, because I had never heard anything about him, so when he came to the sideline, I asked him how fast he was and what was his best vertical jump and pro-shuttle. He quickly said 4.47 in the forty, a 40 inch vertical jump, and a 4.01 in the pro-shuttle. I was in the candy store, because I had just found one of the gems that I had been looking for on my trip to Jackson and yes, he said yes to playing in the 2010 All-American Bowl Game Classic.
As a junior, Buchanan caught 53 passes for 983 yards and scored 13 touchdowns, so this kid should have been on all of the college recruiting lists.
At the Pre-All-American Bowl Game Super Combine, Buchanan was a Freak as he posted an incrible 3.96 in the pro-shuttle and in the drills, he made at least one incridible catch in the end-zone.
