Brandon Bourbon (6-2, 210, 4.36) of Potosi, Missouri is an absolute Freak of Nature. I can not tell you how big of a Freak that he is, but listen to me when I tell you what he did at the Super Combine. He is just too big and strong to be so fast and quick.
At a recent Super Combine in Indianapolis, Bourbon ran a 4.00 flat and a 3.97 pro-agility shuttle; a 38 inch vertical jump;20 reps on the 185 pound bench press; and then did an amazing 130 inch standing broad jump.
Then, if you are a coach and you watch his highlight film, after five plays, you will start grabbing for a phone to offer him a scholarship. On his first five plays, he went 80 yards or more for a touchdown. The unbelievable part of those five plays is that he did not score untouched on any of them and as many as five players touched him on one play and he still broke free and scored.
Bourbon actually rushed for 2,420 yards as a junior and scored 29 touchdowns. I saw five of them on his highlight film before I turned off the video. For whatever the reason, he never really got on all of the BCS powerhouse teams, but that was a Godsend for the Stanford Cardinal, because he committed to them before the football season started.
Some scouts have projected him as a safety, but really think that he can play running back. He could also become a strong safety at the next level or even in the NFL. I like him a lot and I invited him to play in our 2010 All-American Bowl Game Classic and he has accepted.
