Biography:
Cecil Whiteside is a great two-way player who probably can play a lot of different positions at the next level on either side of the football field. A lot of schools, including the California Golden Bears, have been recruiting him to play linebacker and I think that he would make an outstanding linebacker.

If you look at his highlight film on offense, you might change your mind about him playing linebacker. First of, he does not even play linebacker in high school, although he looks like he is playing it on some plays. On offense, he plays wide receiver and he is one of the best big wide receivers that I have seen play this year and I have watched a lot of big wide receivers play.

He has excellent hands and he has great leaping ability. I really think that he could become an All-American tight end in college. As a junior in high school, he was weighing in the 205-210 area, but right now, he is more in the 220-225 area. The Golden Bears love him as a bone-crunching linebacker, but I would give him the chance to become a difference-maker as a flex tight end.

I really like this kid and for all of these reasons, I have invited him to play tight end in the 2010 All-American Bowl Game Classic. Of course, if he had rather play in the game as a linebacker, I certainly would not turn him down.
